Wameja Appoints Internal Executive James Hume To Board

23rd Oct 2019 11:19

(Alliance News) - Financial technology company Wameja Ltd on Wednesday said it has appointed senior internal executive James Hume as a director with immediate effect.

Hume is currently working out his notice as an employee of Wameja and he will become a non-executive director once his employment with Wameja ceases, the company explained.

Hume has held senior executive positions with Wameja for more than a decade. He was appointed chief operating officer of eServGlobal in 2017 to prepare the legacy business for sale, a process he led to completion earlier in 2019. Software firm eServGlobal was sold for EUR2.0 million to Swedish firm Seamless Distribution Systems AB.

"James' contribution to Wameja is highly valued by his board colleagues and this appointment recognises that value to the company and the importance of keeping James involved in the company and in its invstement in HomeSend once his employment with the company ends," said Executive Chair John Conoley.

After that disposal, Wameja will focus on developing its investment in the HomeSend cross-border payment venture with Mastercard Inc. Wameja has invested AUD3.5 million, around GBP1.9 million, in HomeSend and owns 36% stake in the venture.

Wameja shares were trading 2.2% higher in London on Wednesday at 6.70 pence each.
