LONDON (Alliance News) - Interior furnishings group Walker Greenbank PLC on Monday said it has signed a licensing agreement with India-based textiles company Indo Count Industries Ltd.
Under the agreement, Walker Greenbank's Sanderson, Harlequin and Scion bedlinen ranges will be launched in the US, Canada and Mexico, marking the company's first major bedlinen licensing initiative in North America.
Indo Count manufactures high-quality textiles in India and distributes them directly to the US, where it has strong relationships with major department stores, according to Walker Greenbank, as well as supplying bedlinen to a "number of major retailers" in the UK. Indo Count will launch 20 Walker Greenbank bedlinen sets at a trade show in New York in September.
"This exciting licensing agreement with Indo Count represents a significant opportunity for the Sanderson, Harlequin and Scion brands in the US bedlinen market. We look forward to working with Indo Count, which is an established and high quality supplier to major US department stores and retailers. Indo Count's first Walker Greenbank bedlinen ranges will be launched in New York this autumn - the same time that Sperry, the US footwear brand, will be launching its first shoe ranges under its licensing agreement with Sanderson," Chief Executive John Sach said in a statement.
Shares in Walker Greenbank were trading up 3.7% at 172.71 pence on Monday morning.
