(Alliance News) - London-based Volex PLC on Monday said it has been working closely with local government agencies in China to implement some precautionary measures to allow its employees to return to a safe work environment.
The cable assembly solutions supplier said the move follows an extended and mandatory closure of all major operations in China due to the outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan.
Volex has 14 manufacturing plants across the globe, four of which are in China. Three facilities are located in Guangdong province, southern China, which is 1,000 kilometres from Wuhan and one facility is located in Jiang-Su province, eastern China, 600 kilometres from Wuhan.
"The welfare of our employees continues to be the top priority for Volex," the company said in its statement Monday.
"As of today, one of our four sites in China has resumed operations at a reduced capacity. The other sites will follow once the necessary approvals are received from the Chinese authorities."
AIM-listed Volex shares were trading 0.9% higher in London on Monday at 137.21 pence each.
