Vodafone Sends UK CEO Hoencamp To Head Dutch Venture With Liberty

19th Jul 2016 08:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Telecommunications provider Vodafone Group PLC on Tuesday unveiled a shake-up of its executive committee and a new UK chief executive as it made appointments to its Netherlands joint venture with Liberty Global Inc.

Vodafone and Liberty agreed in February to merge their operations in the Netherlands via a joint venture agreement. They also moved to quell consistent speculation up to that point that the pair will pursue further deals together.

On Tuesday, Vodafone said Jeroen Hoencamp, currently the chief executive of its UK business, will move to become the CEO of the Liberty joint venture in the Netherlands.

Richy Drost, the chief financial officer of Liberty's Ziggo telecoms business in the country, will become the CFO of the joint venture.

For Vodafone, this will mean Nick Jeffery will take over as the CEO of Vodafone UK, moving from his role as the CEO of Vodafone Group Enterprise.

Ahmed Essam, CEO of Vodafone Egypt, will be appointed to oversee Vodafone's European operations on its executive committee. He will be replaced by Stefano Gestaut, currently CEO of Vodafone's Partner Markets arm.

Vodafone shares were down 0.7% to 224.15 pence Tuesday.
