(Alliance News) - Vodafone Group PLC on Thursday appointed Pilar Lopez as chief financial officer designate from October 1.
The Newbury, Berkshire-based telecommunications company said Lopez will take over from outgoing CFO Luka Mucic, whose resignation was announced back in May.
Mucic will remain at the company until November 30 to ease the transition. Lopez's appointment as CFO will come into effect on December 1.
Lopez will leave Microsoft Corp, where she is currently leading the firm's partnership with London Stock Exchange Group PLC. She previously served as Microsoft's chief operating officer for western Europe and country general manager for Spain.
Prior to her tenure at the US software firm, Lopez was CFO of Telefonica SA's European division and CFO of O2 PLC, both telecommunications peers of Vodafone. She remains a non-executive director at retailer Industria de Diseno Textil SA, known as Inditex.
Vodafone Chief Executive Magherita Della Valle said the appointment came after "a significant period of change at Vodafone", adding: "[Lopez] has deep-rooted knowledge of both the telecoms and technology sectors, across a range of international leadership positions."
Lopez will be paid a GBP725,000 base salary with a 200% bonus and long-term incentive for a maximum 450% of base salary.
Vodafone shares were 1.0% higher at 75.99 pence on Thursday morning in London.
