LONDON (Alliance News) - Vodafone Group PLC Wednesday launched broadband and home phone services in the UK, as it continues a push to diversify from its mobile offerings in a market that's increasingly offering a full range of mobile, broadband and TV services.
The company's UK unit said it will start rolling out its Vodafone Connect high-speed broadband and home phone services from Wednesday, and said it is investing significantly in the project.
Vodafone Connect will initially be offered to existing Vodafone UK customers in Manchester, Berkshire and parts of Hampshire and Surrey followed by Essex, Hertfordshire and Yorkshire in the next few weeks. It will then be rolled out the rest of the company's UK customer base later in the summer.
"This launch builds on the success of Vodafone's fixed broadband services across 12 countries in Europe, where we are one of the largest providers with more than 11 million subscribers and our experience as the leader in unified communications to the UK business sector," it said.
Vodafone shares were down 0.3% at 241.05 pence early Wednesday.
