Vivo Energy selects TotalEnergies executive Mittleman as new CEO

9th Nov 2021 08:25

(Alliance News) - Vivo Energy PLC on Tuesday said it has appointed an executive at TotalEnergies SE as chief executive officer designate, taking up the role formally in March 2022.

Stanislas Mittelman is expected to join the pan-African retailer of Shell and Engen-branded fuels and lubricants in early 2022, once he has completed his notice period with his current employer and secured a work permit.

He will be replacing Christian Chammas, who is stepping down from the role after ten years since 2012.

Mittleman is currently senior vice president for Africa Marketing & Services at French energy firm TotalEnergies for four years since 2016.

"Christian's leadership, drive, focus on performance and absolute fixation on the health and safety of our employees, customers and partners has been integral to the remarkable growth and success of Vivo Energy since its formation a decade ago," said Chair John Daly.

"We are delighted to welcome Stan to lead Vivo Energy during its next stage of growth. He has a strong track record in developing businesses and driving growth, and this - along with his genuine passion and understanding of Africa - make him ideally suited to the role," Daly added.

Shares in Vivo Energy were up 0.6% at 106.60 pence on Tuesday morning in London, while its Johannesburg shares were untraded at ZAR21.48.
