Virgin Wines strikes deal with Currys and Great Western Railway

18th May 2022 15:14

(Alliance News) - Online wine retailer Virgin Wines UK PLC on Wednesday said it has signed strategic partnerships with Currys PLC and Great Western Railway Ltd to improve customer acquisition.

Norwich-headquartered Virgin Wines said that it has entered into an exclusive partnership with train operators GWR to act as its sole supplier of wine across the train's railway network.

Under the partnership Virgin Wines has created a new range of wines specifically for GWR's customers base and their buying habits.

The company added that it is GWR's first change of wine supplier in almost 20 years.

Virgin Wines has also signed a partnership with Currys. The wine company will offer Currys' customers introductory offers for its wine products and subscriptions, both online and in-store.

Virgin Wines said that it expects this partnership to deliver a number of new customers in the next 12 months.

These strategic partnerships follow numerous others signed in recent months, including those with Moonpig, Arena Flowers, and Virginia Hollywood.

Virgin Wine's Chief Executive Officer Jay Wright said: "Engaging in partnerships with leading brands is central to our customer acquisition strategy. We work extremely hard to provide an exciting and targeted range of products to suit the needs and desires of the customers of our valued partners, and look forward to seeing these partnerships thrive into the future."

Shares in Virgin Wines were trading 1.0% higher at 100.00 pence in London on Wednesday afternoon.
