2nd Jul 2018 11:19

LONDON (Alliance News) - Advanced materials engineering group Versarien PLC said Monday it made "significant advances" through its collaboration with Warwick Manufacturing Group to incorporate its graphene nano platelets into power storage devices.

Shares were trading 8.2% higher at 136.30 pence each.

The company aims to significantly increase the power storage capacity of batteries and supercapacitors by incorporating graphene nano platelets into the devices.

The company said it "looks forward to commercial products becoming available in due course".

Additionally, the group said it entered into a collaboration agreement with ZapGo Ltd, a technology business focussed on developing a new class of energy storage device.

The two companies will develop projects involving the incorporation of Versarien's graphene nano-platelets into Zap&Go's supercapacitor type devices in order to enhance their performance, Versarien said.

Finally, Versarien said that its subsidiary Cambridge Graphene Ltd has been awarded GBP1.2 million in a grant from innovate UK to develop and bring to market graphene enhanced flexible printed batteries for electronic wearable devices.
