LONDON (Alliance News) - Graphene products manufacturer Versarien PLC said Wednesday it has hired a senior UK government employee to oversee the company's planned expansion into China.
Peter Jay, head of Policy & Governance for Outward Direct Investment at the Department for International Trade, has joined Versarien on a secondment for a minimum of 12 months, the company said.
Jay will assume the role of deputy head of International Strategy & Government Relations at Versarien. His appointment follows that of Matt Walker, announced in May, who joined Versarien on secondment from the Department for International Trade as the company's head of International Strategy & Government Relations.
According to the company, the UK government agreed to the secondment of Jay and Walker as part its strategy to help businesses with their overseas investments.
"We are delighted to welcome Peter Jay to Versarien. Peter will be key to ensuring the successful execution of our Chinese expansion plans and his arrival further broadens our special relationship with the UK Government," Versarien Chief Executive Neill Ricketts said.
Shares in Versarien were trading 5.3% higher at 122.71 pence each on Wednesday morning.
