23rd Jun 2015 08:14

LONDON (Alliance News) - Two AIM listed companies Tuesday said they will participate in the UK Graphene Exhibit at Nano Korea, which will take place at the beginning of July and one of the companies has also established a new office in Korea in preparation for the expansion into the country.

In separate statements, Versarien PLC and Haydale Graphene Industries PLC said they will be participating in the exhibit, which is an initiative implemented by leading graphene technology companies, research institutes and government agencies within the UK.

The event will be supported by Korea and UK Trade and Investment. The purpose of the exhibit is to promote the strengths and capabilities of the graphene Industry in the UK to stakeholders in Korean industry, academia and government groups and demonstrate that the UK graphene industry is very much "open for business"with Korean partners, said Versarien.

The exhibit will take place between July 1 and July 3.

"This is a milestone for us as we take our new graphene product into the Far East having received lots of enquiries from this region and we are expecting a warm reception," said Versarien Chief Executive Neill Ricketts.

"Korea is a major potential market for Haydale's enabling technology. Graphene is regarded as the next "big thing" in Korea and we believe our technology and UK expertise can make a significant impact," said Haydale.

In addition, Haydale said it will be establishing a new office in Seoul, South Korea in tandum with the exhibit. The office will host its subsidiary, Haydale Technologies (Korea) Co Ltd, which is currently being established.

"Initially the company will be a sales and marketing office managing companies Haydale has been working with and sampling over the last nine months. Thereafter a centre of excellence will be established to include a Haydale reactor offering both functionalisation and advisory services to Far East customers," said Haydale.

Versarien shares were up 0.8% to 18.90 pence per share on Tuesday morning whilst Haydale shares were down 1.6% to 120.53 pence.
