Verditek's Photo-Voltaic Technology Passes IEC Certification

10th Jul 2019 10:11

(Alliance News) - Verditek PLC on Wednesday said its lightweight photo-voltaic panel technology has successfully passed all tests required for IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 certification.

The technology, Verditek explained, is being used to transform solar power by making very lightweight and robust photo-voltaic solar cells.

The clean technology company said obtaining certification is the final step of preparation for commercialisation. Verditek now intends to proceed to fulfil its first order and promote the technology through its commercial partners - Engenera Renewables Ltd and Optimeyes Energy Ltd.

Verditek said its 1,800 square metres facility near Milan, Italy, comprises an automated manufacturing line with a production capacity of 20 megawatts per annum. In order to pass the IEC tests, the panels have been exposed to months of testing, the company said, including thermal cycling, damp-heat, mechanical-load, and hail tests.

"This milestone confirms the quality of materials and design of our panel benchmarks against the best conventional panel available in the market," said Alfredo De Mutiis, general manager of Verditek Solar Italy.

He added: "We will continue to improve on our design and formulation as we mature the business, but I am satisfied that our hard work and determination of the last months has been rewarded."

Verditek shares were trading 2.1% lower on Wednesday at 5.75 pence each in London.
