LONDON (Alliance News) - India-focused miner Vedanta Resources PLC subsidiary, Sesa Sterlite Ltd., has resumed mining activities at its Karnataka mine, after receiving permission from the Honorable Supreme Court.
The court appointed Monitoring Committee to resume the mining activities at its Karnataka mine. The subsidiary, formerly known as Sesa Goa Ltd., said it started its mining operations on Saturday December 28, in accordance with stipulated conditions.
The Honorable Supreme Court of India had earlier given the clearance for resumption of mining operations for A and B category mines in Karnataka, vide its order dated April 18 2013, said the firm.
Shares in the FTSE 250-listed miner were up 2.45% at 923.62 pence per share Monday morning, one of the biggest gainers.
