Vedanta Resources Says Cairn India Begun Polymer Injection At Mangala

LONDON (Alliance News) - Vedanta Resources PLC Friday said that its subsidiary, Cairn India Ltd, has begun polymer injection at its Mangala field in Rajasthan, India.

The oil and gas exploration and production company said the Mangala Enhanced Oil Recovery project, has started well ahead of its previous expectations. It said the polymer injection activity will be gradually be ramped up.

"This will enable us to further unlock the potential of the prolific Rajasthan block and help contribute significantly towards the nation's energy security," said Chief Financial Officer Sudhir Mathur in a statement.

"The chemical EOR programme has a potential to enhance recoveries from the Mangala, Bhagyam and Aishwariya fields by around 300 million barrels," the company added.

It said that the Mangala alkaline surfactant polymer pilot programme, the next phase of EOR has also yielded good results so far, suggesting better mobilisation of oil post polymer flooding.

Vedanta Resources were trading 1.5% higher Friday afternoon at 823.00 pence.
