LONDON (Alliance News) - Mining company Vedanta Resources PLC on Friday confirmed that Srinivasan Venkatakrishnan has commenced his appointment as chief executive officer with immediate effect.
Back in April, Johannesburg-listed miner AngloGold Ashanti Ltd said Venkatakrishnan, who has been with the company for 18 years, would be departing at the end of August. Venkatakrishnan served as AngoGold Ashanti CEO for the past five years.
At the time, AngloGold Ashanti said it had started a "global" search for a new CEO, and expected to have a new person in place before Venkatakrishnan's departure. However, the company has not yet announced a replacement CEO.
Vedanta shares were trading 0.4% higher in London on Friday at 834.00 pence each, while AngloGold Ashanti shares were up 2.4% in Johannesburg at ZAR117.16.
