LONDON (Alliance News) - UTV Media PLC said Thursday that intends to begin broadcasting in the Republic of Ireland in January 2015, following news that its subsidiary UTV Ireland Ltd had entered into negotiations with the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland for a television content provision contract.
UTV said it applied to the Broadcasting Authority to sign an agreement with ITV Studios Global Entertainment to exclusively broadcast its programmes, including soaps such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale, in the Republic of Ireland.
Shares in UTV Media were trading down 1.5% at 244.25 pence Thursday morning.
