(Alliance News) - US wholesale inventories increased unexpectedly in February, while January's monthly sales growth rate was revised upwards, according to preliminary figures reported by the US Census Bureau on Thursday.
Seasonally adjusted wholesale inventories increased 0.8% to USD919.58 billion in February compared with a 0.3% decline to USD911.90 billion, revised from a 0.5% decline, in January. February's figure beat the FXStreet-cited consensus for a 0.2% decrease.
On an annual basis, total inventories in February were up 1.8% from USD903.14 billion.
Adjusted sales of merchant wholesalers increased 2.7% on-month to USD751.87 billion, and rose 8.8% from USD691.26 billion in February, 2025.
January's sales grew 1.1% on-month to USD731.77 billion, revised from the preliminary estimate of a 0.5% rise.
