(Alliance News) - Renalytix AI PLC on Thursday said health insurance firm Capital District Physicians' Health Plan Inc will cover KidneyIntelX in type two diabetics with chronic kidney disease.
KidneyIntelX has been developed by Renalytix and is intended to improve outcomes in kidney disease patients. It "uses machine-learning algorithms to assess a combination of predictive blood-based biomarkers and features from a patient's electronic health record" and costs USD970 per reportable result.
CDPHP is based in Albany, New York and its qualified members will be able to get testing and score reporting to assess their risk of rapid kidney disease progression.
Relaytic Chief Executive James McCullough said: "This CDPHP coverage determination is an important milestone for opening market access to the predictive value and data assessment capacity of KidneyIntelX in this critical medical indication.

There are currently around 12 million people in the US with diabetic kidney disease.
Shares in Renalytix were up 1.6% at 255.00 pence in London on Thursday.
