URU Metals Progresses On Mining Application For Nickel Project

11th Dec 2019 15:47

(Alliance News) - Uru Metals Ltd on Wednesday said it was making progress in advancing the mining right application for the Zebediela nickel project in South Africa.

The mine development firm said that a public open day was held for the project. Comments received during the open day were incorporated into the final scoping report which was then submitted to the South African Department of Mineral Resources & Energy for review.

The scoping report examines the impacts of planned mining operations and provides mitigation measures for any impacts identified.

The next phase of the application will commence once the South African Department of Mineral Resources & Energy approves the scoping report. Uru Metals expects the approval to be received early in 2020.

Chief Executive Officer John Zorbas said: "We are delighted with the progress made on securing the mineral rights for a further 30 years and taking the project another step closer to development by systematically overcoming regulatory hurdles."

Uru Metal shares were up 22.1% at 238.00 pence per share on Wednesday afternoon in London.
