LONDON (Alliance News) - URU Metals Ltd Monday said it has appointed resource entrepreneur John Zorbas as its non-board chief executive officer with immediate effect.
The base metals and uranium explorer and development company said Zorbas has a proven track record in metals exploration and development, which will help in the ongoing progress of its Zebediela Nickel Sulphide Project in South Africa.
The company added that Zorbas' has experience in uranium exploration, which will be of particular importance to the development of its major Närke Oil-Uranium Project in Sweden.
Zorbas is currently chief executive officer of Mercom Oil Sands PLC and executive chairman of NWT Uranium Corp, along with director positions at both ZorCorp Capital Holdings and Starline Capital Holdings Infrastructure Fund.
"I am delighted to welcome John to the team and I am confident that his extensive high level experience in the exploration and development sector will prove invaluable as we refine our strategy and focus our attentions on the development of URU Metals' key assets," Chairman David Subotic said in a statement.
"John has supported URU Metals for many years through his position as chairman of NWT Uranium, URU Metals' 38% shareholder, and will bring his expertise in the uranium industry to the company," Subotic added.
URU Metals shares are untraded at the open Monday. They were last quoted Friday at 1.82 pence.
