Upland Resources Stresses South East Asia Focus As Non-Exec Appointed

7th Jul 2016 11:05

LONDON (Alliance News) - Upland Resources Ltd on Thursday said it has appointed Datuk Haji Bolhassan Bin Haji Di to its board as a non-executive director, effective from today, as part of its efforts to purchase more assets in South East Asia.

Upland said Bolhassan has "significant oil and gas experience with Royal Dutch Shell PLC in South Korea, Singapore, the North Sea and the Netherlands", having previously worked at a subsidiary of Shell's Sarawak Shell Bhd and also holding the position of chairman for the Sarawak state body Miri Port Authority.

Bolhassan also worked as an elected member of the Darawak State Legislative Assembly from 1987 to 2011, and "has many years of political and commercial experience within the region", Upland said.

Sarawak is a Malaysian state on the island of Borneo.

"Bolhassan's appointment supports the company's strategy to extend its focus to Malaysia and the South East Asian region and, along with the company's chairman, is considered invaluable to the company's ambition to take stakes in high-impact, low-cost production and exploration assets in the region," Upland said.

Chairman Norza Zakari is a director of a number of listed companies in Malaysia and has also held senior positions with Malaysian state oil and gas company Petronas and the Central Bank of Malaysia in the past.

Shares in Upland were untraded on Thursday, having last traded at 1.20 pence.
