(Alliance News) - Shield Therapeutics PLC on Monday said it hired Hans-Peter Rudolf as its chief financial officer with immediate effect.
Starting in 2017, Rudolf was chief financial officer at Vicarius Pharma AG, which helped pharmaceutical companies sign license and partnership agreements. He previously had worked in the US and Switzerland for accountancies EY and Deloitte, in a career spanning 30 years.
Gateshead-based Shield is looking to expand in the US. In February, it announced it raised GBP25 million to launch its iron deficiency drug Ferracru/Accrufer in the US.
Shield had been without a finance chief since April 2020. The role was held by Tim Watts, who then became chief executive officer, replacing founder Carl Sterritt.
Watts said: "I am delighted that Hans-Peter has agreed to join Shield at this point in the group's evolution. His experience in both public practice and commercial companies and his US experience will be invaluable to Shield, particularly as we scale up activities in the US."
Rudolf said: "I am honoured to join Shield's leadership team at this exciting moment and lead its finance organization to contribute to Shield's future success as the group progresses to the next phase of its strategy."
Shield shares were up 2.0% at 34.48 pence each in London on Monday afternoon.
