UPDATE: SafeCharge Launches Prepaid MasterCard, Appoints New CFO

23rd Apr 2015 07:51

LONDON (Alliance News) - Payments and risk management services company SafeCharge International Group Ltd on Thursday said it has launched a PokerStars-branded prepaid MasterCard, which allows UK poker players to withdraw and deposit directly to their bank account, and said it has promoted Ali Khwaja to the position of chief financial officer with immediate effect.

StarsCard was initially made available to UK players on April 16 and will roll out into international markets in the future, SafeCharge said.

The StarsCard provides a free web and mobile account for PokerStars players that can be funded by vouchers, bank transfer or debit card, and will be managed by SafeCharge Card Services Ltd, the Dublin-based issuing and programme management division of SafeCharge.

In a separate statement, the company said Ali Khwaja moves from his current role as chief executive of SafeCharge Card Services and executive vice-president of SafeCharge Group to become its new chief financial officer.

Current finance director Tim Mickley will move to the role of group business development director, a newly-created position.

Shares in SafeCharge were up 0.1% to 272.15 pence on Thursday.
