UPDATE: Galliford Try, Costain Appointed To Southern Water AMP6 Framework

12th Sep 2014 06:36

LONDON (Alliance News) - Galliford Try PLC and Costain Group PLC Friday announced that the companies have been appointed by Southern Water to help deliver its 2015 - 2020, or AMP6, investment programme.

In a statement Friday Galliford Try said its infrastructure business, through its joint ventures, has been appointed by the private utility company as a delivery partner for its AMP6 framework.

The total contract is valued at GBP430 million, with Galliford Try's appointment expected to be worth approximately GBP215 million to the housebuilder and construction group.

The design and build framework will commence in 2015 and run until 2020, with an option to extend a further five years to 2025.

Under the appointment, Galliford Try has secured one of two process lots in a joint venture, called GTM, with Imtech and will be supported by strategic design partner Atkins. The majority of the work on the secured process lot, worth up to GBP250 million, said the company, will focus on water supply and wastewater treatment works.

The FTSE 250-listed company has also secured both the water and wastewater network lots in a joint venture, called MGjv, with Morrison Utility Services, to be supported by strategic design partner AECOM. The lots, worth up to GBP180 million, involve upgrades to water supply and wastewater pipelines and pumping stations.

Galliford Try Thursday reported that it had been appointed to three new contracts worth over GBP100 million combined.

In a separate statement Friday, engineering services provider, Costain, said it has been appointed to the programme with work set to be undertaken in a joint venture with MWH. the contract is worth up to GBP200 million to Costain over the five-year period. The company also has the option to extend the framework beyond 2020 into AMP7.

The contract builds on an existing relationship between the company and Southern Water; it is the third secured by Costain in the AMP6 cycle.
