UPDATE: FirstGroup Appoints Essentra's Matthew Gregory As CFO

LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 250 transport company FirstGroup PLC on Friday said it has poached Matthew Gregory from chemicals company Essentra PLC to become its new chief financial officer, effective from December 1.

Essentra has appointed Stefan Schellinger, its corporate development director, as its interim finance director and said it has started the search for a permanent replacement.

"I am delighted to welcome Matthew to FirstGroup as chief financial officer; he is highly experienced and has a strong track record of value creation. We look forward to benefiting from his financial, strategic and organisational expertise and international experience," said Tim O'Toole, FirstGroup's chief executive.

Essentra shares were down 0.2% on the news to 845.00 pence, while FirstGroup shares were up 1.0% to 108.00 pence.
