(Alliance News) - Darktrace PLC on Wednesday said it had been selected by one of the UK's leading port groups to protect its IT, alias information technology, and operation technology environment.
Describing the agreement as a "million-dollar-deal," Darktrace said the customer company handles tens of millions of tonnes of cargo annually and employs over a thousand people. The port group is using Darktrace's Enterprise Immune System as well as Darktrace Antigena, the Cambridge-based cyber security company added.
"Cyber-physical attacks seeking to disrupt the supply of food, water and gas are rising and organisations are assessing how best to protect the critical infrastructure that we all rely on.
"Artificial intelligence can defend a business at every layer and take targeted action to stop threats in any environment before spiralling into a potentially devastating situation," said Chief Executive Officer Poppy Gustafsson.
The firm noted that 90% of globally traded goods are carried by maritime transport, which has become a target for attackers looking to disrupt critical national infrastructure.
Earlier Wednesday, Darktrace announced that members of its employees and management, including its CEO Gustafsson, sold a stake worth in the company worth a combined GBP25 million for 410 pence per share.
Darktrace shares were 0.2% lower at 415.80 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
