Universe Group Confident On Outlook As Interim Profit Rises

29th Sep 2015 10:41

LONDON (Alliance News) - Universe Group PLC on Tuesday posted higher pretax profit for the first half of 2015 and said it remains positive about its prospects for the full year.

The company, which makes point-of-sale, payment and online loyalty systems, said its pretax profit for the six months to the end of June was GBP300,000, up from GBP230,000 a year earlier, with revenue broadly flat at GBP8.8 million.

Universe said the first half was focused on developing its products and said its remains confident in its outlook for the full year. It acquired Spedinorcon, a retail software provider, back in April and said this deal should allow it to expand its presence in the convenience retail sector.

"I am pleased by the progress Universe continues to make both corporately and operationally. The business has secured a good level of customer orders in the first half for delivery in the second and has also completed the refresh of our new on-line loyalty platform," said Robert Goddard, Universe's chairman.

Shares in Universe were down 4.1% to 8.75 pence on Tuesday.
