United Carpets Sales Decline After Difficult Summer Trading

19th Sep 2018 13:01

LONDON (Alliance News) - United Carpets Group PLC said Wednesday its like-for-like sales dipped by 1.9% in the 24 weeks to September 13, after difficult summer trading.

The carpet and floor covering retailer said at its annual general meeting that the "exceptionally" warm, sunny weather, and the World Cup, did significant damage to its sales volumes.

"The combination of these influences will be reflected in significantly lower profit levels in the first half of the current financial year," the company said.

United Carpets added that it is currently pursuing appropriate ways to respond to the sale dip during the second half in order to reduce its impact on full-year results.

Shares in the company were trading down 3.0% at 7.52 pence each.
