UK Serious Fraud Office Probes De La Rue's South Sudan Operations

23rd Jul 2019 14:17

(Alliance News) - Shares in banknote printer De La Rue PLC slipped Tuesday afternoon as it revealed the UK Serious Fraud Office is looking into possible corruption in South Sudan.

De La Rue said it will cooperate with the SFO, and, given the early stage of the in investigation, it cannot give any guidance on how the probe may affect the company.

Shares were down 16% down Tuesday afternoon at 251.00 pence each.

Last week, the firm urged shareholders to ignore a move by shareholder Crystal Amber Fund Ltd to remove Chair Philip Rogerson ahead of his scheduled departure.

Rogerson has previously said he will leave once a new chief executive is found, but Crystal Amber wants him to leave immediately. The vote on Rogerson's position will be held on Thursday this week.
