UK house prices increase 3.7% year-on-year in June - ONS

20th Aug 2025 10:49

(Alliance News) - House prices in the UK rose solidly in June with broad-based growth led by Scotland and Northern Ireland, a report on Wednesday showed.

According to Office for National Statistics data, average UK house prices increased by 3.7% to GBP269,000 in the 12 months to June, picking up from a downwardly revised 2.7% in the 12 months to May.

May's figure was revised from growth of 3.9% before, partly reflecting a change in how new build inflation is assessed.

The ONS said the change, introduced with this report, has led to downward revisions on average to the UK house price index annual inflation rate between June 2024 and May 2025 of 0.5 percentage points.

By country, house prices rose 3.3% in England, 2.6% in Wales, 5.9% in Scotland and by 5.5% in Northern Ireland from a year ago.

Within England, prices rose fastest in the North East at 7.8% year-on-year with London seeing the slowest pace of growth at 0.8%.
