(Alliance News) - Britain's Labour government on Monday announced it had reversed a policy to scrap a winter heating benefit for millions of pensioners.
The government's U-turn follows widespread criticism regarding the planned cut, including from within its own party.
The government will raise the income threshold for receiving the subsidy, which "extends eligibility to the vast majority of pensioners", or nine million people, the Treasury said in a statement ahead of a key announcement on government spending due on Wednesday.
