UK Competition Regulator To Probe Proposed Future Buy Of TI Media

20th Jan 2020 08:55

(Alliance News) - The UK competition regulator on Monday said it is looking into Future PLC's proposed acquisition of TI Media Ltd.

In late October, the publisher said it will acquire magazine printer TI Media - which owns brands including Decanter, Country Life and Horse & Hound - for GBP140 million in cash.

The watchdog is looking into the deal to decide if it constitutes a merger or not. If so, the UK Competition & Markets Authority will then consider whether or not the deal will "result in a substantial lessening of competition within any market or markets in the UK for goods or services."

The CMA is asking for comment on the acquisition, which has to be submitted by the end of January.

Shares in Future were 0.2% higher in London on Monday morning at 1,448.40 pence each.
