LONDON (Alliance News) - The UK Competition & Markets Authority said Monday it had launched an "initial investigation" into recent acquisitions by flooring firm Headlam Group PLC and its impact on competition.
The deadline for the initial decision is yet to be confirmed.
The CMA issued an initial enforcement order - otherwise known as a "hold separate" order - related to the completed acquisitions by Headlam of the Garrod Bros floor covering distribution business in October, Rackhams Ltd in September and Ashmount Flooring Supplies Ltd in July.
The CMA explained "resulted or may be expected to result in a substantial lessening of competition."
The initial enforcement order pauses further integration of the businesses until the regulator has considered its effects on competition.
Headlam shares were down 0.5% at 411.00 pence on Monday.
