LONDON (Alliance News) - Marketing, media and events company UBM PLC said Tuesday that it has appointed Tim Cobbold as its new chief executive, following the departure of David Levin last September.
Cobbold joins UBM from commercial banknote printer De La Rue PLC, where he has held the position of chief executive since 2011. Cobbold previously worked as chief executive of Chloride Group PLC, and had roles at Smiths Group PLC.
UBM Chairman Helen Alexander, who has taken up the role of executive chairman until Cobbold assumes his position, will return to a non-executive role.
"Tim has successfully led highly international, operationally complex businesses; the Board is confident that his track record ideally qualifies him to continue the development of UBM as a focused, international events-led marketing communications business," Alexander said in a statement.
Levin will leave UBM on March 1.
Additionally independent non-executive director Karen Thomson will step down from the UBM board March 31.
Following Cobbold's departure from De La Rue, Non-Executive Chairman Philip Rogerson will take up the role of executive chairman until a successor is found, De La Rue said. Finance Director Colin Child will become chief operating officer on a temporary basis to support Rogerson.
"I would like to record the board's appreciation of Tim's significant contribution over the past three years and to wish him well with his future career," Rogerson said in a statement. "He leaves De La Rue as a stronger, healthier and more dynamic company than when he joined, and with strong forward momentum underpinned by a good R&D pipeline and order book."
UBM is scheduled to report its most recent full-year earnings on Friday.
