LONDON (Alliance News) - Real-time location intelligence technology company Ubisense Group PLC Tuesday said it has entered an exclusive strategic partnership with an unnamed Asian automotive logistics company, a move that comes just ahead of the Japanese market opening up to its products in 2014.
The company said that the deal follows talks and a trial that took place over the last 12 months. Under the agreement, the companies will work together to deploy an automotive logistics platform to new and existing customers that will be built on the Ubisense Real-time Intelligence Platform.
It said the new platform will be deployed on sites at large-scale Asian ports and at leading auto makers. It helps manufacturers with final assembly and in-bound and production logistics.
The company's platform is already used by manufacturing giants including Airbus, BMW, Daimler, John Deere and Volkswagen.
"In a further boost to Ubisense's presence in Asia, the company is pleased to note forthcoming changes to Japanese radio regulations which will allow use of its products in the Japanese market from 2014. The changes follow significant investment in product development and engagement with the Japanese regulatory body," the company said in a statement.
"As we look to expand our presence within the highly important Asian market, we are excited about the strategic opportunities this partnership will afford coupled with regulatory changes enabling use of our products in the Japanese market," Ubisense Chief Executive Richard Green said.
Ubisense shares were up 5.3% at 230 pence Tuesday morning.
