LONDON (Alliance News) - Ubisense Group PLC Monday said it has been awarded a "six-figure contract" by a major off-road vehicle manufacturer, for use of its Smart Factory technology at one of the manufacturer's US plants.
Ubisense provides hardware, software and services to businesses to track people and assets. The Smart Factory System technology allows manufacturers to track everything within a facility.
Ubisense did not identify the manufacturer it has signed the deal new with, or say exactly how much the deal is worth.
It said its Ubisense system will be deployed over the remainder of 2014 at one of the company's major US heavy-duty vehicle assembly plants to improve end-of-line process efficiency.
"It will assist workers to test, inspect, and, if necessary, carry out any remedial work before delivery. By augmenting these processes, which are currently managed manually, Smart Factory will save time typically spent locating vehicles, thereby removing bottlenecks and accelerating processing to improve throughput and productivity," said Ubisense in its statement Monday.
The hardware, software and services company said it continues to expand its global footprint.
Ubisense shares were up 2.4% Monday morning at 157.70 pence.
