Tullow Oil Chair Thompson to step down, search for successor begins

2nd Jun 2021 10:33

(Alliance News) - Tullow Oil PLC on Wednesday announced Non-Executive Chair Dorothy Thompson will step down from her role with effect when her replacement has been appointed and once a handover period has taken place.

The search process to find a new chair has been launched and is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, the oil and gas firm noted.

Thompson has been in her role at the London-based firm for three years since 2018, and before that was chief executive officer at Selby, England-based electrical power station operator Drax Group PLC for 12 years from 2005 to 2017.

Prior to that, she managed energy company InterGen's European power business, was head of project finance at PowerGen and worked at government finance institution CDC Capital Partners.

"I am very sorry that Dorothy is leaving Tullow but fully understand her desire to step back now that the business is in a stronger position. I will miss Dorothy's astute counsel, her leadership and her expert chairing of the board and I wish her well in her future endeavours," said Chief Executive Officer Rahul Dhir.

Shares in Tullow Oil were up 3.8% at 58.09 pence on Wednesday in London, among the best performers in the FTSE 250.
