TUI Travel Orders 2 Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, Raising 787 Fleet To 15

19th Nov 2013 09:27

LONDON (Alliance News) - TUI Travel PLC said Tuesday it had ordered two more 787-8 Dreamliner passenger jets from The Boeing Company, raising its total commitment to 15 of the fuel-saving, but teething problem-plagued, aircraft.

The FTSE 100 travel firm said four of its six airlines - Thomson Airways, Arkefly, TUI Fly Nordic and Jetairfly - will operate Dreamliner jets, which TUI said have received unprecedentedly positive feedback from passengers.

TUI said the value of the two aircraft at list prices is USD422 million, but TUI said it purchased the planes "at a significant discount to the list price as a result of various concessions, allowances and support from Boeing".

TUI, which also announced the sale of its interest in UK air traffic controller NATS Holdings Ltd. Tuesday, was quoted at 388.20 pence per share in moring trade, up 0.3%.
