(Alliance News) - Infection prevention products provider Tristel PLC said Friday its Duo disinfectants product range has been approved for the decontamination of semi-critical medical devices by the Medical Device & Diagnostics division of India's Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation.
Duo ULT is to be used on invasive ultrasound probes, Duo OPH is intended for use on ophthalmic instruments, while Duo EVE is to be used on a hand-held colposcope and other instruments used in gynaecological procedures.
Tristel's Duo products are already being used in Europe, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, while the company is seeking approval for Duo ULT from the US Food & Drug Administration.
For the year ended June 30, Tristel's worldwide sales of all Duo-branded products were GBP3.9 million, up 56% year-on-year.
"Every regulatory approval we achieve represents an important milestone in our progress, and this Indian approval for the use of our high-level disinfectants on invasive medical devices is no exception. The three Duo products provide Indian hospitals with an affordable and easy-to-use high-level disinfection method for medical devices used in ultrasound, ophthalmology, and gynaecology," said Chief Executive Officer Paul Swinney.
Shares in Tristel were up 1.8% at 483.50 pence on Friday in London.
