LONDON (Alliance News) - Tristel PLC Thursday welcomed a call from Public Health England calling for NHS Trust chief executives to tackle multi-drug resistant organisms, often called ''superbugs."
The circular from the UK Government Department of Health's executive agency, says that "carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae are one of the most serious emerging infectious disease threats that we currently face."
Tristel Chief Executive Officer Paul Swinney said that the company's lead technology, a chlorine dioxide formulation, "offers a more attractive solution to NHS cleaning teams," as it is "far superior to surface disinfectants that are commonly used in the NHS."
Shares in Tristel were trading up 5.1% at 47.31 pence Thursday morning.
