Tristel Hails Study Showing Wipes System Equal To DuPont, J&J Products

11th Oct 2016 08:37

LONDON (Alliance News) - Tristel PLC on Tuesday said a comparison of disinfectants used in ear, nose and throat clinics found its Wipes System proved as effective in terms of microbiological efficacy as disinfectants produced by two US giants.

The company, which makes infection prevention, contamination control and hygiene products, said a randomised, single-blind comparison of Tristel's Wipes System showed to be equal in efficacy to chemicals group DuPont's PeraSafe peracetic acid disinfectant and healthcare company Johnson & Johnson Inc's Cidex OPA ortho phthalaldehyde disinfectant.

The study found Tristel's Wipes System has no capital outlay cost, the lowest running cost, the greatest convenience, and the fastest turnaround time for medical instruments of the three products evaluated, the company said.

Tristel said the study was conducted by the Bay of Plenty District Health Board in Tauranga, New Zealand back in 2011 and has been published in the The Journal of Laryngology & Otology

"We are pleased to see at long last the publication in a peer-reviewed journal of this significant study comparing our Wipes System with competitor products manufactured by two of the world's major infection prevention companies. The results affirm the key advantages of our Wipes over alternative chemistries and disinfection methods," said Paul Swinney, Tristel's chief executive.

Shares in Tristel were up 6.3% at 169.00 pence on Tuesday.
