LONDON (Alliance News) - Trinity Mirror PLC said Thursday that the London Metropolitan police have launched an investigation into phone hacking at the Sunday Mirror.
In a statement, Trinity said that it "does not accept wrongdoing within its business and takes these allegations seriously." It said that it is too soon to know how the investigation would progress, but that it will provide further updates as appropriate.
The Sunday Mirror is published by Trinity Mirror's subsidiary MGN. This investigation follows the News of the World phone-hacking scandal in 2011, which resulted in the arrest of reporters and News International executives and, ultimately, The News of the World being shut down.
Trinity's shares were trading down 3.9% at 123.25 pence Thursday morning.
