LONDON (Alliance News) - Trans-Siberian Gold PLC on Friday provided an update on its Asacha mine in far east Russia, with ore extraction down year-on-year but its average gold and silver grades both improving.
Trans-Siberian said the amount of ore extracted from the mine in the first quarter to the end of March was 43,598 metric tonnes, down from 48,682 metric tonnes a year earlier.
But its average gold grade improved in the quarter to 7.43 grams per tonne, from 7.05 grams a year earlier, while its average silver grade improved to 13.43 grams per tonne from 12.90 grams. Its gold recovery rate also improved, up to 95.19% from 94.25%, though its silver recovery rate weakened to 73.25% from 76.47%.
Shares in Trans-Siberian were untraded on Friday, having last traded at 12.30 pence.
