17th Jun 2019 11:08

(Alliance News) - Trans-Siberian Gold PLC has appointed former Evraz PLC executive Evgeny Volkov to manage one of its Russian mines, it said Monday.

Volkov will head up the Asacha mine, in the South Kamchatka region in Russia's Far East. Production from Asacha started in 2011, producing 42,128 ounces of gold in 2018.

Volkov has 20 years' experience in the mining industry, Trans-Siberian said, having most recently run Nordgold SE's Zun-Khloba mine in Buryatia, Siberia. Before that, he spent 18 years at Evraz, ending as chief engineer & technical director.

Trans-Siberian Chief Executive Alexander Dorogov said: "We are delighted to announce Evgeny's appointment as mine manager of our flagship Asacha asset. Having worked for a number of large scale and highly regarded mining companies, Evgeny brings with him a strong track record of operational and health and safety best practise.

"We look forward to working with him and continuing to exploit the exciting opportunity that Asacha presents."

Shares were 3.9% higher on Monday at a price of 64.40 pence each.
