LONDON (Alliance News) - Town Centre Securities PLC Thursday said it has secured planning consent for an office on Whitehall Road in Leeds, and has completed a GBP6 million agreement with NHS Trust for a health clinic in the Merrion Shopping Centre.
The Leeds-based property investor and car park operator said it will build an eight story, 70,000 square foot office with 38 parking spaces on a brownfield plot on Whitehall Road.
The development is part of its Whitehall Riverside Scheme which includes 300,000 square foot of premium office space and a 500 space multi-storey car park. Work on the scheme is expected to begin later this year.
Additionally, Town Centre Securities has completed a GBP6 million agreement with NHS Trust for a 7,000 square foot health clinic in the Merrion Shopping Centre. The clinic is expected to open in the autumn as part of the NHS's and Leeds City Council's pledge to provide a more efficient and integrated health service in Leeds. It is expected to see around 45,000 visitors a year.
"We are delighted to have secured planning permission for the next phase of development in our Whitehall Riverside Scheme in Leeds and to have done so before the new community infrastructure levy was put in place. The site is in a strategic position, with excellent access, and we look forward to significant progress being made over the next year," Chief Executive Edward Ziff said in a statement.
"Separately, we are very pleased that the NHS Trust has chosen the Merrion Centre as the site for its new health centre. We believe it will be a significant benefit for the local community," he added.
Shares in Town Centre Securities were trading up 0.3% at 293.25 pence Thursday morning.
