LONDON (Alliance News) - Books, magazines and stationery retailer WH Smith PLC on Wednesday said it anticipates its results for the year to the end of August will meet its expectations.
The FTSE 250 company said its Travel unit, which comprises stores in airports and train stations, continued to perform well in the second half of its financial year, with growth in all channels. Its new store opening programme is on track both in the UK and internationally, it added.
The High Street business, meanwhile, delivered profit in line with the company's expectations, as it came up against a strong comparator for the second half driven by the rise in colour therapy book sales a year prior. The unit has continued to deliver gross margin improvements and cost savings in line with WH Smith's strategy for the business.
The company will publish its final results on October 13.
