TOP NEWS: South32 Names Non-Exec Wood As Successor To Chair Crawford

8th Feb 2019 08:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - Miner South32 Ltd on Friday said Non-Executive Director Karen Wood has been appointed chair-elect, succeeding David Crawford who will retire in April.

Wood has been a non-executive director of South32 since November 2017, having "extensive" experience as a senior executive in the resources sector and serving on BHP Group PLC's executive team from 2001 until her retirement in 2014.

South32 Chair Crawford said: "It has been an honour to serve as the first chairman of South32 and I am delighted that Karen has been elected as my successor. Her experience in strategy and governance, and her legal and people skills, position her well to lead the board. Karen has a wealth of industry knowledge, a deep understanding of the business and is an excellent choice for the role."

London-listed shares in South32 were down 0.1% at 199.10p on Friday, while in Johannesburg the stock was down 0.9% to ZAR35.16.
