(Alliance News) - Schroders PLC confirmed on Thursday that it is in advanced talks with Greencoat Capital LLP to buy a significant stake in the business.
Sky News reported on Thursday that Schroders was in talks to buy a 75% stake in the London-based renewables-focused manager. Greencoat Capital manages London-listed Greencoat UK Wind PLC and Greencoat Renewables PLC.
Schroders added that there was no certainty these talks will lead to any final agreement and that it will continue to evaluate potential acquisition opportunities in line with its strategy.
In separate statements, Greencoat Renewables PLC and Greencoat UK Wind PLC confirmed that any potential transaction would relate to Greencoat Capital LLP - not Greencoat Renewables or Greencoat UK Wind.
Both are confident that, should any transaction proceed, it would not impact Greencoat Capital's role as investment manager to either company.
Shares in Schroders were up 1.9% at 3,453.70 pence each on Thursday morning in London. Shares in Greencoat UK Wind were up 0.4% at 137.20, while Greencoat Renewables rose 0.9% to EUR1.10.
