(Alliance News) - Rightmove PLC has hired a former executive of travel booking website Expedia Group Inc and fast-food chain McDonald's Corp to be the real-estate portal's new chief executive, it said on Friday.
Johan Svanstrom will join Rightmove on February 20 next year, becoming CEO on March 6. Peter Brooks-Johnson will retire at that point, which will follow presentation of Rightmove's 2022 results. Brooks-Johnson has been CEO for five years and a part of the Milton Keynes, England-based company for 16 years.
Svanstrom, a Swede, joins from investment firm EQT, where he is a partner in the EQT Growth Advisory Team. Previously he was global president of Hotels.com and Expedia Affiliate Network brands at Expedia. Svanstrom had joined Expedia from McDonald's, where he worked in the restaurant chain's Digital Innovation Group.
Rightmove added that trading in the year to date has been as expected, and its view for 2022 as a whole is unchanged.
Rightmove shares were down 1.5% at 466.10 pence in London on Friday morning.
