LONDON (Alliance News) - International Consolidated Airlines Group SA on Wednesday reported a rise in passenger traffic and capacity in November compared to the year before, as load factor remained flat.
The FTSE 100-listed airline operator said it carried 8.4 million passengers in November, which was up 7.7% year-on-year from 7.8 million.
Year-to-date passengers carried is up 7.6% to 104.6 million from 97.2 million in the same period last year.
IAG - which owns British Airways, Spanish carriers Iberia and Vueling, and Irish airline Aer Lingus - said group traffic, measured in revenue passenger kilometres, rose by 6.7% to 20.7 million from 19.4 million reported in November last year.
Year-to-date group traffic is up 6.9% to 249.6 million from 233.5 million last year.
Group capacity, measured in available seat kilometres, grew by 7.1% to 25.7 million from 24.0 million the prior year. Load factor was flat year-on-year at 80.7%.
Year-to-date group capacity is up 5.8% to 298.6 million from 282.2 million last year.
All airlines achieved growth in traffic with Iberia being the top performer.
Iberia's traffic was up 14% to 4.9 million from 4.3 million year-on-year. Available seat kilometres was also up 14% to 5.9 million from 5.2 million the year before. Load factor increased to 83.0% from 82.3%.
Meanwhile, Aer Lingus' and Vueling's traffic was up by 13% to 1.7 million and by 5.0% to 2.1 million, respectively. Aer Lingus saw a 1.5 percentage point fall in load factor to 76.7%.
British Airways' revenue passenger kilometres rose just 1.7% in November to 11.8 million, with the load factor at 80.6%, slightly up from 80.3% the year earlier. BA's available seat kilometres increased slightly to 14.6 million from 14.5 million last year.
Shares in International Consolidated Airlines were up 2.3% Wednesday at 622.80 pence each.
